To Walter Junior and family, please know you're in my prayers. I remember the family from attending North Albemarle Baptist Church, back in the 50s and 60s. May the peace of the Lord which goes beyond all understanding be with you always.
On behalf of the Uwharrie Players, our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Harkey's family, and especially to our long-time volunteers, Kent Harkey and Edna Lipe Harkey. We share the pride of our community with Walt's service to our country and our community. He will be long remembered, and his memory cherished.
Walt,
Our hearts go out to you and your family. You are in our prayers. I am sorry I never got to meet him but Ruff said your Dad was a great man. He had sacrificed a lot in his life, with service in the military, and being a fireman. He will be greatly missed. He had a wonderful family. May God bless you and give you a peace that passes all understanding. You will see him again one day in the sweet by and by.
Kent, thinking of you and your family. So sorry!
The entire Albemarle Fire Department thanks Captain Harkey for his dedication to the citizens of Albemarle. His impact on our department will be felt for years to come.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
Walter was such a beloved friend and neighbor to have. He always went out of his way for others, especially those who couldn't get around very well. He will always be remembered for great Wit!
My Prayers and thoughts are with the Harkey Family. Especially you, Little Walt, a childhood friend and neighbor.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all ! I loved Walt and most of all I loved all the arguing we did !! He will be terribly missed !
