Selma Dove Krones' Obituary
Selma Dove Krones was born Dec.17, 1941 in Monroe, NC. Her parents were Thomas C. Dove and Minnie Griffin Dove .
She graduated from Monroe High School, attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA, then transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill in her junior year, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology and Master of Social Work (MSW). She began her social work career at Child and Family Services of Richmond, VA, and later worked at the Piedmont Area Mental Health Center of Monroe.
Selma also studied pottery for many years, including the Penland School of Crafts in Spruce Pine, NC. In her later years she worked as a potter and was the owner and operator of Dove Pottery. Well known for her colorful and original ceramic creations, she displayed at the Matthews Farmers Market and numerous other venues.
A long time resident of Waxhaw, Selma is survived by her loving husband, Peter Krones, daughter Emily Tyson and grandson Jordan Campbell of Monroe. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Dove (wife, Marguerite), of Vienna, Austria, sister Pauline (Polly) Lamal, (husband, Peter), of Charlotte, niece, Hilary Pioro (husband, Christopher) great nieces Julia and Isabella Pioro of Feldkirchen, Germany .
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Union County, or the charity of your choice.
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be conducted on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 3:00PM at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation an hour prior to the memorial service.
