Dr. Samuel Green Griffin's Obituary
Samuel Green Griffin, 70 of Albemarle, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. His life will be celebrated with a gathering on June 20th in Albemarle with more details to follow.
Born June 5, 1955 in Farmville, VA, he was the son of the late Ray Wooten Griffin and Dorothy Brothers Griffin. He was raised in Chattanooga, TN and attended high school at Baylor School. He was a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Griffin owned Albemarle Animal Clinic and West Stanly Animal Clinic. He previously practiced veterinary medicine in Sarasota, FL. Sam also served as President of the West Stanly Rotary. He served multiple terms on the Stanly Board of Health and also served on the diaconate of First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle.
He is survived by sons Samuel Scott Griffin and wife, Carol Rego, of Charlotte, and Richard Griffin of Tacoma, WA, and by his sister, Nancy Dozier, of Greenwood, SC. His older brother, Skip Griffin, preceded him in death.
