Robert J. Roland's Obituary
Robert J.Roland, 81, of Albemarle passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. His funeral service will be 11 AM Monday, December 24, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care from 9:30 AM until 11 AM prior to the service. Following the burial, the family will be gathering at Salem United Methodist Church.
Born June
14, 1937 in Scott County, MS, he was the son of the late Bryant R. Roland and
Gertrude Acock Roland. Mr. Roland was a
veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and retired from
ALCOA. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing any sport with a ball.
Mr. Roland
is survived by his wife Joyce Louise Efird Roland of the home, son Jerry Roland
(Lois) of Knoxville, TN, daughter Joycelyn ?Susie? Burleyson (Rick) of Mt.
Pleasant, daughter-in-law Kristy Roland of Albemarle, sister Linda R. Daniels
(Gary) of Lena, MS, grandchildren Bryant Roland (Misty) of Albemarle, Keith
Roland (Mara) of Concord, Joy Marshall (Aaron) of Durham, Casey Burleyson
(Shannon) of Richland, WA, Jared Burleyson of Atlanta, GA, Kaylan Roland of
Albemarle, Karmin Roland of Albemarle, great-grandchildren Lucas Roland, Hunter
Roland, Mason Roland, Gabriel Roland, Josie Marshall, Branson Surratt, Grant
Burleyson, and Miles Marshall. He was
preceded in death by a son Jeff William Roland, granddaughter Kristen Roland,
and a number of brothers and sisters.
