Michael "Bud" Hinson's Obituary
Michael B. “Bud” Hinson, Sr., went to live in the house not made with hands eternally in heaven on March 13, 2024.
Bud was born to Martin Ray Hinson and Ethel Bowers Hinson on June 20, 1952, and was proud to call Richfield, North Carolina, home.
Bud valued his relationships and was a devoted husband to his wife of 39 years, Hazeline Eudy Hinson, father to Michael B. “Bucky” Hinson, Jr., (wife Laurel) and Elizabeth “Beth” Hinson Crowell (husband Mark), grandfather to Harper Lilly and Willow Anne Hinson, and Mason Allan, Martin Andrew, and Michaela Ann Crowell, and brother to Sherry Hinson Elledge (husband Larry). Bud had many “brothers” from Richfield and beyond, but those closest were the Misenheimers - Chaz, Jim, and Robert - whom he had known his entire life.
In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by his daughter Lauren, his sister Martha Hinson Poplin and her husband Alvin.
Along with the family listed above, Bud will also be remembered by sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and his many cherished friends from a life well-lived as he served his church and community. He was a member of Richfield Baptist Church, the Richfield Civitan Club, the Albemarle Masonic Lodge 703, and the Stanly County Shrine Club.
Bud was passionate about his UNC Tar Heels Men’s Basketball. He always looked forward to the annual North Stanly FFA Alumni weekend with his White Lake family..
Bud served in the US Navy from 1972 – 1976. He retired from HW Culp Lumber Company, and he was the self-titled “owner/dishwasher” of Bud’s Bodacious Carolina Catering. He was known far and wide for his mouth-watering barbecued pork, chicken, slaw, and Brunswick stew.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Richfield Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23, at 11:00 AM, led by Pastors Dale Collingwood and Tony Biles.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Richfield Baptist Church, PO Box 96, Richfield, NC 28137, or Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
