So sorry to hear of Buds' death. I visited Bud over the years at his house and met his wife and children and it was very apparent that dad, husband, and grandfather was the proudest man on the planet! Bud will be missed!

So many memories...Family and friend...Bud remains a part of me
Prayers for the family!❤️

Bud was a wonderful friend, person, and an exceptional great BBQ cooker. Many times he prepared 50 to 60 meals for our Endy 58-59 class reunions and 50-60 servings for our Westbrook family Christmas gatherings. Everyone loved his BBQ pork and chicken, slaws and all the fixings.I missed his being able to do it the last couple years. No one could replace Bud’s cooking.
This was Bud playing Santa at the old fire house on Hwy 49 about 33 years or so ago.
Bud inspired my lifelong passion for distance running as a 12yo kid having just moved to Richfield whole he trained for and finished the 1980 Charlotte Observer Marathon in an amazingly fast 3:30 first time! Will never forget our first “long” run - a 14 miler to Millingport and back. I had never run more than six miles, and Bud was upbeat and breezy about what was ahead of us. He told me just to focus on getting to Millingport, that he had a surprise there for me. When we ran up to the gas station that was our turnaround point, Bud pulled out money he had tucked into his shorts, bought me a Pepsi and Little Debbie, and told me to rest and enjoy sitting and eating for awhile. We snacked and talked for a bit, then ran back to Richfield. One of many, many memorable runs we would enjoy together that changed my life in infinitely positive ways.
I will never forget the time Bud took me to Richfield for the pork barbecue, when in the navy, and had a great time and memory! He will never be forgotten!
Bud was one of the most welcoming people I have ever met. I had no idea what to expect the first time I met him and his family years ago but our visit to his Memorial Day Celebration turned into a recurring event for us. Along with numerous other visits. I gained made friends, it was always a pleasure to go to Richfield and spend time at the Dome. Great conversations, feelings of unconditional welcome and love. I will greatly miss you Bud.
