I enjoyed building houses with Mike, Perch, Richard and a few others back in the 1980's, and have many great memories both from work and on the lakes fishing. One of my favorites was when we all ganged up after work and went right down the river bank from he and Cathy's home and waded Rocky River fishing with crickets for bream. We were all very young back then, and our wives joined us too some of the time. Cathy had a pet goat (or two?) back then too, and that joker got into some mischief!
Mike was a good man and a fair "boss" that treated us well. I am sad to hear of his passing way too early from this world, and just learned of this today doing some online searching for old friends.

Dear Cathy,
We are so sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathy to you, Neal and Nick. It was our family's privilege to work with Mike for many years. He engendered trust and confidence in everyone he worked with and for. He was always willing to go beyond and above what was required. He just always gave his best. What a blessing Mike was to everyone he met!!! Cathy and Mike were youth pastors at Calvary and we're heroes to our children! Sharing the Gospel and giving their time unselfishly! With a heart like theirs we're excited to know we get to spend eternity with them!!! Love you!!!

Mike has been a part of the Efird family for so long it's hard to imagine him not with us. It was always Mike and Cathy or Cathy and Mike. They were rarely apart and Cathy made sure that was going to continue through the entirety of Mike's illness. Mike was a family man who loved Cathy and his two sons Nick and Neal. The boys dropped their lives in Oregon and DC to be with him and Cathy and have remained. Their love is obvious and I'm sure Mike felt their devotion. What a wonderful family that showed us all how to selflessly and graciously carry on with a devastating situation. Love to them all
