Ms. Melodie (Mel) Ann Backer, age 51, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Hospice of Union County. Funeral Services to Celebrate the Life of Melodie Backer will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, O Read Obituary
My wife, Linda, and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Melodie. She was active in the Lafayette Township VFD back when we were active with this department. She was definitely an asset helping out in numerous ways. We want to express our deepest sympathy to the family and may God watch over and comfort all of you.
Mel was a great person and friend. We both loved her dearly and will always miss her.
It was an honor and privilege to serve your family during this time of loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I grew up in Limestone with Melodie. I always remember her smiling and witty. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing, so young. I pray to almighty God that He comfort her, bless her, be with her forever and ever. Fifty one is too young, I'm so sorry. God Bless you and all your family. Amen.
