Maurice Lee Huneycutt's Obituary
Maurice Lee Huneycutt, 71, of Oakboro, NC, went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. His funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, February 26 at Big Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Springer and Rev. Todd Coble officiating.? His burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home.
Born January 16, 1945 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Alfred Nehemiah Huneycutt and Rettie Ann Huneycutt Huneycutt.? He was a mechanic and retired from Southland Builders, in Charlotte, a remanufacturer for Ford Motor Company.? Mr. Huneycutt retired from the North Carolina National Guard after 20 years of service.? He was an active member of Big Lick Baptist Church and he lived his life to serve God.? He enjoyed restoring old cars and attending car shows where he won several awards with his 55 Chevy and 67 Chevrolet Truck.? He loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Huneycutt is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lora Elizabeth Huneycutt, who was the love of his life.? Other survivors include son Maurie DeLee Huneycutt (Sherrie) of Kannapolis and daughter Shonda K. Blalock (Wade) of Oakboro, 3 sisters Janette Huneycutt Trull of Monroe, Julie Huneycutt Evans of Oakboro, Susan Huneycutt Flowe of Oakboro, and 3 grandchildren Kyle Bradley Huneycutt, Alexis Morgan Huneycutt, and Wade Lee Blalock.
