Lane O?Brion Burris' Obituary
Lane O?Brion Burris Sr., 71, of Locust passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 in CHS-Northeast, Concord, NC.? His funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care, Albemarle.
Born April 16, 1946 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Ralph Lane Burris and Victoria Eudy Burris.? He was a retired Captain with the Stanly County Sheriff?s Department.? He was of the Christian Faith.? Mr. Burris loved people and he loved Stanly County.? He ran a very close race in 2016 for a seat in the NC House of Representatives, carrying Stanly County.? He also loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Burris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Honeycutt Burris.? Also surviving are sons Lane O?Brion Burris, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Suwanee, GA and Christopher Shane Burris and wife Julie of Locust, half-brother Stan Burris of Oakboro, half-sisters Debra Burris Smith of Oakboro, Sherri Burris Dennis of Mt. Gilead and Teresa Burris Underwood of Albemarle, grandchildren Austin Burris, Evan Rees, Zoe Barron and Olivia Burris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
