Joseph Donald "Donny" Finch's Obituary
Joseph Donald "Donny" Finch, 76, of Monroe, passed away on April 30, 2025, at The Greens of Gastonia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Davis Chapel of Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Monroe, with Rev. Dr. Chris Baucom officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on March 6, 1949, in Union County, NC, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Cabiness Finch and Lillian Foy Cuthbertson Finch. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the City of Monroe Wastewater Treatment Plant. A longtime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Joseph was a man who deeply appreciated life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, and visiting the casino. After retirement, he found joy in buying and repairing old cars. Above all, he loved his family-his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him the greatest happiness.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie Weir Finch, and two children, Glenda Lyons and Joey Finch.
He is survived by six grandchildren: Casey Finch, Tyler Finch, Dreama Collins, Desmond Lyons, Jordyn Lyons, and Journi Lyons; two great-grandchildren: J.J. Collins and E.J. Collins; and his siblings: Susanne Finch Moose, Jane Finch Copper, Carol Finch Boyd, Roger Steven Finch, and George Edward Finch.
