I had known John for about 29 years , has a very good person and a good friend. May he Rest In Peace.
I worked for John and Betty from summer 1969 until Matthews drug store burned in
the fall of 1972. I worked during my high school days and started UNCC during that time. They were great people to work for. I met his farther Dr Nance and John's brother while I worked there. John and his father were real characters, always having some off the wall quote or advice to give you. I learned lots of things about dealing with people from them while working there. Lots of good memories.
Mr.Nance was one of the most thoughtful and sweetest men I ever knew. There was days I may have been having a rough day and not in the best of moods then it was like the lord just sent Mr. Nance my way, I would see his smiling face and hear him say something to make me laugh , he always had something that would make you giggle . He would bring my mother in law Anne a Hamburger and they would sit and talk and just have me so happy by the end of that conversation.. I will always remember him laughing and telling jokes and being a Ray of light where ever he was. It was such a blessing to me having him come and visit and seeing him going up and down the road and just waving . He took his time to visit with Anne and he would always make both of our days better. He is up in heaven now having the best time telling his Jokes to his loved ones and his friends . He will be missed and we loved him .
Mr. Nance was such a caring and gracious person!! We always looked forward to his visits.
He will be missed!
