Mary Beth, Jimmy, & Beth,Every year my godfather “Uncle†Jimmy would send me a “Happy Christmas Birthday†card for my Christmas birthday, and every year, but one, he called me on my birthday. So this year I was surprised that I did not get a Christmas/birthday card from him, but when I didn’t get a phone call Christmas day, I knew something was wrong.Yesterday I called and emailed Uncle Jimmy with no success and then I searched for his obituary and unfortunately found it. I want you all to know how much I loved your father and how I so looked forward to his phone call every year. Your father was so thoughtful and caring. He never missed one of my brothers children’s birthdays, Jim and my anniversary and of course my birthday. He was such a great friend of my father’s and my mother’s. I remember mom and Uncle Jimmy drinking gin martinis in our living room in Elmont after work chatting away like two girlfriends while dad was reading his book in the den.I am so glad that we were home to receive your father’s phone call last Christmas and we were able talk for a little while. He did not mention he was ill. Was he? What happened?I’ve spent some time today on your Facebook pages. I feel like I’ve caught up a bit with Jimmy’s life (do you remember Hawaiian Punch!), but not so much with Mary Beth or Beth. I would love to hear back from one of you to hear what happened to your dad. With fond memories,Kathy Goff [email protected]
