Gerald David Maiden's Obituary
Gerald David Maiden, 78, of Albemarle, NC died Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Rosary service will be at 5:30Pm on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care. Visitation will follow from 6:00-8:00Pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 27, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle officiated by Father Peter L. Fitzgibbons. Burial will follow in?Fairview Memorial Park.
Mr. Maiden was born September 4, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Wilbur S. Maiden and Susanna McCauley Maiden. Gerald played semi-pro baseball in Norwood, NC, before playing pro baseball for the Kansas City Athletics, also playing in Olean, NY, and Grand Island, NY. He was inducted into two different halls of fames in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Maiden enjoyed spending time carving, working with model trains, gardening, reading, and puzzle. He was very active in the Catholic Church where he served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. ?Gerald retired from Collins and Aikman with 47 years of service. Mr. Maiden loved his family and his church family dearly.
He is survived by his wife RoseAnn Minder Maiden of Albemarle; daughter Teresa Myers Carter (Wayne) of New London, NC; sons Bart Myers of Norwood and Tim Myers (Lisa) of Troy; grandchildren Brett Crayton, Cameron Crayton, Christina McDonald, Cory Myers, Montana Myers; great-grandchildren Zoey, Alyssa, Makayla, and Brantley Crayton, Landon and Layla McDonald; brother Tommy Maiden (Sandy) of Albemarle; many nieces and nephews. Gerald is preceded in death by his brothers Edward Maiden and John Maiden.
