Mr. George Elwood Denning, age 92, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2015. Funeral Services to Celebrate the Life of George Denning will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Da Read Obituary
My most heartfelt condolences, to my long time girlfriend Susie, who is and was devoted to her father's care and well being. From all the stories down the years bout George, I think I will always treasure the look in Susie's eyes when she regaled us with the "childhood escapades". Susie,Although I never had the privilege of meeting your father, I enjoyed hearing the love in your voice whenever you spoke of him. Your stories of good times you had with him are ones I know you will remember forever. Like all of us, he was not perfect, but I think he was probably the perfect father for you. He taught you how to love and care for others and how to accept people as they are, seeing the good in them. I know you and your family will miss him, but always be thankful for the good times you had with him.Mattie

It saddens me to know such a fine man has past. All though I did not know him very well. I enjoyed visiting with him in Jesse Helms center and Union Memorial. His daughter is a reflection of the fine man he was, I would have loved him to teach me how to fish.
My father-in-law, Billy Morris Greene and I worked with George at Fruehauf several years ago. Both of us considered him our friend. I remember him as a hard working man who stood by what he believed. After I left Fruehauf I replaced the shingles on his home. I haven't heard from George for several years and was saddened by seeing his obituary in today's paper. I know he will missed and I send my sincere condolences to the family.Rick Edwards
