Edward Everette Talbert's Obituary
Edward Everette Talbert, 19, of Albemarle passed away on Dec. 7, 1941 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii aboard the USS Oklahoma. He was the first casualty from NC in World War II. His remains were returned to Albemarle on March 23, 2022 and a funeral service will be at 11 AM on March 26, 2022, his 100th Birthday, at Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Stoney Benfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Rites rendered by the United States Navy.
Born March 26, 1922 in Albemarle, NC he was the son of the late Gurley and Dora Talbert. He was a graduate of New London High School and a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Geraldine Talbert Crisco. Survivors include nephew Michael S. Crisco and wife Susan of New London and Linda C. Hollis and husband Tom of Charlotte.
