Clifton Hurley's Obituary
Clifton Hurley, 79, of Albemarle passed away peacefully Monday, December 5, 2022 in his home with his loving family by his side. His funeral service will be 11am Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor David Pinion officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Mr. Hurley was born March 10, 1943 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Dallas Young Hurley and Bessie Lee Kimrey Hurley. He was a retired Sales Manager with Flowers Baking Company in Jamestown, NC. Clifton was employed for many years with Coca Cola Bottling in Albemarle as a route salesman and route manager. He was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees, sang in the church choir, was a Cub Scout leader, and made many lifelong friendships. Mr. Hurley enjoyed woodworking, making knives and he was a collector of many antiques, tools, coins, and anything he could buy and resell. Clifton always enjoyed the Thresher Reunion at the Denton Farm Park. He raised Boxer Bulldogs, and he enjoyed fishing. He was a wonderful gardener and shared the best tomatoes in the world with his friends and family. He really enjoyed working with his Jays Seafood family. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and family.
Clifton is survived by his wife, Sue Corriher Hurley of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Dana Hurley Eudy and husband Greg of New London, NC and Joy Hurley Loflin and husband Greg of New London, NC; a brother, Douglas Hurley and wife Nancy of Mt. Gilead, NC; a sister, Patsy Hurley Harris and husband Tommy of Alachua, FL; six grandchildren, Emma Loflin, Dallas Loflin, Grant Loflin, Anna Katherine Eudy, Ila Loflin and Allie Eudy. He was also preceded in death by a special sister, Joyce Hurley.
