Barry Andrew Pleasant's Obituary
Barry Andrew Pleasant, 63, of Wingate, North Carolina, passed away on June 8, 2026.
Born on December 6, 1962, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Elvira Eggleston Pleasant and Rudolph Pleasant, Sr.
Barry walked with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit every day of his life. He always took care of everyone around him, always wanting to help in his own quiet way. His life was one of service, from working in missionary work early in his life to serving foster children to participating in transitional programs that assisted inmates as they returned to society. Most recently, he found great joy in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities at Union Diversified Industries of Monroe. He loved his family with a passion and accepted each and every person for who they were.
Barry was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose love for his family was evident in all that he did. He will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast dedication to those he loved, and the many special memories he leaves behind.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lilda Osborne Pleasant; daughters, Hannah Grace, Sarah Ann, and Jessica Lynn; sisters, Brenda, Regina, and Sharon; brothers, Gary (Jan), Brian, Kevin (Crystal), Damon (Angeli), and Tyrone. They, along with many extended family members and friends, will forever treasure the love, guidance, and companionship he shared throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph Pleasant, Jr. and Steven Pleasant; and sister, Gail Pleasant.
The family will receive friends and celebrate Barry's life on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at his residence, 1115 Crescent Way, Wingate, NC 28174. A Zoom Service will be held at a later date for those family and friends that live out of town.
The Pleasant family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, support, and expressions of sympathy shown during this difficult time.
