Winsome Allen Smith's Obituary
Winsome Allen Smith, 87, of Gold Hill, NC, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 in her home. Her funeral service will be 12pm Monday, March 21, 2022 at Open Door Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Hammill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am until 12pm at the church.
Mrs. Smith was born January 15, 1935 in Robeson County, NC to the late Roy Stinson Allen and Flowers Walters Allen. She finished high school in Fairmont, NC. She was blessed with four great children who made her very proud. They gave her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren which she loved so very much. She loved going to the mountains and spending time with her friends at the senior center. She also liked to ride on the golf cart and look at the pretty flowers people had in their yards. She was a long time member of Open Door Baptist. She enjoyed spending time with her church family. She always had something funny to say when talking to her husband, Homer. She moved to Mt. Pleasant, NC in 1976 where she worked in textiles.
Winsome is survived by her husband, Homer Smith of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Gary Cook (Joyce) of Clifton Park NY and LeRoy Cook of Mt. Pleasant, NC; two daughters, Deborah Northgraves (Jeffery) of S. Thomaston Me and Sandy McKenzie (Scotty) of Chadbourn NC; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
