William Gerald Huneycutt's Obituary
William Gerald Huneycutt, 73, of Oakboro, NC passed away January 28, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. His funeral will be held Sunday, January 31, at 3 PM in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Springer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oakboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM till 3 PM Sunday at Stanly Funeral Home prior to the service.
Born October 5, 1942 in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Jonah William Huneycutt and Margie Huneycutt. After graduating high school, he received an associate degree from Wingate College. Gerald was a member of Oakboro Baptist Church. He was an employee of Huneycutt Oil Co. and the former owner and founder of Quality Gas, Inc. of Oakboro. He was also the owner of Ameron Inc. Land Development of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Gerald loved the real estate development at Ocean Isle Beach as well as his horses and his farm. Whether it be horse competitions, football and soccer games, or swim meets, he treasured greatly being part of his grandchildren?s? lives.
Mr. Huneycutt is survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah Davis Huneycutt of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Kathy Harrington of Albemarle, and Kelly Allen (Steve) of Lexington, NC, one brother, Terry W. Huneycutt (Suzanne) of Oakboro, two sisters, Marilyn Huneycutt of Oakboro and Myra Bowers of Albemarle, and grandchildren, Cameron and Madison Harrington, Olivia and Kendyl Allen, Summer Hamby, and Lauren Ledford.
