Walter Thomas Blackwelder, 84, of Monroe, NC, passed away Friday February 26, 2021 at Atrium Health-Union, Monroe, NC. There will be no service or visitation at this time.
Walter was born July 25, 1936 in Cabarrus County, NC, son of the late Andy Edwin Blackwelder and Ilar Denonia Barbee Blackwelder. He was a retired machinist with Anson Machine Shop. He was a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church. Walter was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his wife, Peggy Jane Helms Blackwelder. Other survivors include a son, John Allen Blackwelder of Stanfield, NC; daughter, Gloria Jane Blackwelder Kluttz of Stanfield, NC; granddaughter, Phyllis Jane Kluttz; great granddaughter, Nova Jane Pressley and a sister, Lucille Church of Charlotte, NC. Walter is also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Blackwelder and Floyd Blackwelder and a sister, Bernice Blackwelder.
