Virginia Whittaker Waller's Obituary
Virginia Josephine Whittaker Waller, 96, of New London, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Leslee Wray. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care.
Mrs. Waller was born on February 14, 1920 in Virginia to the late Marcia Hamilton Whittaker and John Marvin Whittaker. She received her business degree from the National Business College in Roanoke, VA and worked at Puritan Mills in Roanoke before she married Thomas Hall Waller, Sr. in 1949. She was a member at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Albemarle Chapter No. 71 Order of the Eastern Star. Josephine was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing as well.
Mrs. Waller is survived by her sons Thomas H. Waller, Jr. and wife Gail of Marshallberg, NC, and John W. Waller and wife Karen of Ringgold, GA; daughters Ann Ryalls and husband Phil of Lexington, NC, and Sarah Waller of Richfield, NC; grandchildren Thomas Waller of Greensboro, NC, John W. Waller, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Margaret Mathes and husband Jason of Durham, NC, Katharine Ryalls of New Orleans, LA, and Elizabeth Ryalls of Winston Salem, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Thomas Hall Waller, Sr.; and her brothers Carl Allen Whittaker and Dale Hamilton Whittaker.
Memorials can be made to the New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Building Fund at 40237 Millingport Rd., Richfield, NC 28137.
