Vicky Mesimer Almond's Obituary
Vicky Mesimer Almond, 78, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle with Rev. Gary Hunsucker officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Born May 26, 1947, in Stanly County, North Carolina, Vicky was a faithful woman of strong Christian faith. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and attended Vine Life Baptist Church. She retired as an office manager with Dawsons after many years of dedicated service.
Vicky will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother , and a kindhearted friend to all who knew her. Her family remembers her gentle spirit, unwavering dedication, and the warmth she brought into every room. She found great joy in life’s simple blessings — fishing, working in her yard, and especially spending precious time with her family whom she loved dearly. Music also held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the old hymns of the church. Her grandchildren will forever remember the comfort and love in her voice as she sang “You Are My Sunshine” to them. Her favorite scripture was "John 3:16" , a verse that reflected the faith she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Ronald Jerome Almond; her daughters, Deeanna Almond Lowder (Dean) of Mount Gilead and Renee Almond McRae (Keith) of Albemarle; her grandchildren, Lindsey McRae Swaringen (Alex), Rosalyn McRae Whitley (Jacob), Carmen Michelle McRae, and Madison Grace McRae; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Layne, Becklyn, and Bodhi.
Though her family’s hearts are heavy with sorrow, they find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the faith that guided her life so faithfully. Her love, kindness, and quiet strength will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
