Vernon Octavis Robinson's Obituary
Mr. Vernon Octavis Robinson, Jr., age 77, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Hospice of Union County.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Robinson will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Pastor Charles Miller of Good News Baptist Church and Pastor Darrell Wood of Grace Independent Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lucy Helms Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson was born on November 19, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, a son of the late Vernon Octavis Robinson Sr and Johnnie Mae Pressley Robinson. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Joneal Robinson and Javon Robinson; a sister, Macie Stevenson, and a daughter, Leticia Starnes.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Minnie Lee Baker Robinson of Monroe; four brothers, Stacy, Jim, Charles, and Gene Robinson of Charlotte, NC; children, Ronnie Robinson and wife Donna of Indian Trail, NC, Debbie Johnson and husband Roger of Monroe, NC,Reverend Rick Robinson and wife Michelle of Monroe, NC,and Lori 'Susie' Mullis and husband Robert of Monroe, NC.There are 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
'Mr.V.O.' as he was fondly known, was loved by all who were privileged to know him. He was an excellent vegetable gardener and always enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to attend Good News Baptist Church where he was a member, and looked forward to every service there. He will be missed the most by the ones who knew him the best.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 4, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM.
