Vaughn "Monk" Blake's Obituary
Vaughn L. "Monk" Blake, 93, of Albemarle, N.C., passed away Friday March 3, 2017 in the N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury, N.C. His funeral service will be 11:00AM Monday, March 6, 2017 at Plyler Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care.
Mr. Blake was born April 24, 1923 in Stanly County and was the son of the late Prince Albert Blake and Grace May Russell Blake. He was educated in the Stanly County Schools and retired from Wiscassett Mills. Mr. Blake was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church where he was formerly a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and member of the Golden Years. Mr. Blake was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.
Survivors include his wife Isabelle Rummage of Albemarle, N.C.; two sons Roger L. Blake of Albemarle, N.C. and Ronald Allan ?Al? Blake of Braselton, GA; step sons Ray Rummage and wife Penny of Maiden, N.C., and Scott Rummage and wife Lynn of Illinois; step daughters Barbara Mauldin and husband Phil of Albemarle, N.C., Pat Green and husband Steve of Foscoe, N.C., and Sandy Anderson and husband Mike of Albemarle, N.C.; grandchildren Todd Blake and wife Shannon of Dacula, GA, Shane Blake of Salisbury, N.C.; ?great-grandchildren Austin Blake and Anderson Blake. Mr. Blake was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Austin Blake; brothers Dwight Blake and Jerry Blake.
Memorials may be given to Anderson Grove Baptist Church, 2225 East Main Street, Albemarle, N.C., 28001.
