Mrs. Vassie Hatley Smith, age 93 of Albemarle, NC passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Trinity Place, Albemarle, N.C.? Her service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in the Dunn?s Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle, NC with the Rev. Jeremy Holt officiating.? The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the hour of the service.
Mrs. Smith was born August 15, 1923 in Stanly County, NC to the late Croker Alexander Hatley and Eva Ann Almond Hatley and was a homemaker.? She was a member of Dunn?s Grove Baptist Church and was always active in the church as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Smith was married to the late Willis Monroe Smith who preceded her in death in 1999.? Also preceding her in death was a son, Randy Smith.? Survivors include two sons; Craven M. Smith and wife Mary of Polkton, NC, and Roy Burnette Smith and wife Dixie of Marion, NC, one daughter; Brenda S. Bruton of Badin, N.C. five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
