Van Jeffery Gordon's Obituary
Van Jeffery Gordon, 69, of Locust passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Reggie Hinson officiating. Burial will follow at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3:45 PM on Saturday at the Church prior to the service.
Born December 2, 1956, in Iredell County, NC, he was the son of the late Henry Cordell Gordon and Esther Burris Gordon. He retired from Charlotte Plastics in Monroe, NC after many years of service and was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Pickler Gordon of the home; two daughters, Lacey Helms (Derrick) of Locust and Brandi Osborne (Cameron) of Locust; and one son, Jerod Gordon of Locust, six grandchildren, Kreed Osborne, Dax Osborne, Walker Helms, Faida Osborne, Waylon Gordon, Wyatt Gordon. He is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Bowers of Albemarle and Cathy Eudy of Locust.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Freeman and Don Gordon, and one sister, Brenda Hoggy.
Van was a man who loved the simple joys of life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. He also loved gardening and took pride in caring for his plants and yard. Above all, he loved his family dearly. His children and grandchildren were the center of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
His family and friends will remember him as a hardworking man who loved the outdoors, cherished his family, and found happiness in the everyday moments of life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
