Tommy Davis' Obituary
Thomas Frank "Tommy" Davis, 71, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends from 1PM until 2 PM prior to the service.
Born October 13, 1954, in Stanly County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Hal Jackson Davis and Opal Davis Davis. Tommy was a member of First Street United Methodist Church. He was the manager of Hoffman Auto Rental for many years and also operated his father's restaurant, Hal's, for several years.
His family will remember Tommy as funny, loving, caring, intelligent, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He had a wonderful sense of humor and lived by the simple phrase, "It is what it is," a saying that reflected his practical outlook on life.
Music was one of Tommy's greatest joys from an early age. He loved playing the guitar and was a lifelong fan of The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Charlie Daniels Band, and Johnny Cash. When he wasn't enjoying music, Tommy could often be found on the golf course, dancing, or in the kitchen preparing a meal for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Cook Davis; his daughter, Tera Michelle Lovett and husband, Roger, of Albemarle; his sister, Gwen Shaver and husband, George, of New London; and his grandsons, Dakota Webb and Drake Webb.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
