Thomasine (Tommie) Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Thomasine (Tommie) Mosley Thompson, age 94, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away December 23, 2015 at her residence.
Tommie was born March 21, 1921 in Union County, NC to the late Ervin and Selma McBride Mosley
She passed away exactly 19 years after her mother, Selma, who passed on December 23, 1996.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Tommie Thompson will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Renee Easter. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. (Bob) Thompson (2013), her son, Douglas Ralph Thompson (1986), and her sister, Margaret Mosley Melton (~1945).
She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Thompson Welles and husband Peter of Carbondale, CO, son Robert Larry Thompson and wife Maggie of Waxhaw, daughter-in-law and loving caregiver Jenny Thompson Gay and husband David of Waxhaw, seven grandchildren: Amanda Welles, Christina Maron, Wendy D'Oleo, Heather Florczyk, Bobby Thompson, David Thompson and Amy Thompson as well as eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings; Arlin (Bud) Mosley (Irene) of Waxhaw, Sue Brantley (Gene) of Monroe, Ajean Broome and the late (Howard Ware Broome) of Monroe, and Robert Mosley and the late (Jenny) of Houston, Texas.
During her lifetime, Tommie was totally devoted to her family. She was a tireless worker and wonderful cook. There are many fond memories of delicious meals around the kitchen table and hysterical family games which left participants laughing for days. She ate like a horse but looked like a filly. She was always ready for an adventure and traveled all over the United States with her husband Bob and friends. She was a very disciplined woman and always dressed to the nines.
During the last years of her life, she was most fortunate to be cared for by her devoted daughter in law, Jenny Gay, as well as supporting caregivers; Linda Hildreth, Dolly Richardson, JoAnn Griffin, Sue Thornton and Tiffany Medlin. The family would like to thank Hospice of Union County for all their love, dedication and devotion to Mrs. Thompson over the last few years.
She was blessed with a long fruitful life, was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
