Thomas Lee Plyler's Obituary
Mr. Thomas Lee Plyler, age 83, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Harris Hospice at Novant Health Center of Charlotte.
A Private Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be conducted at a later date.
Mr. Plyler was born on November 5, 1933, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Otho Frank Plyler, Sr. and Blanche Carter Plyler. He attended Waxhaw School and Wingate College. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served from 1952 to 1954 on the ship USS Midway.
Tom retired from Western Electric of Charlotte in his early fifties. After retirement, He enjoyed refinishing furniture for his wife's antique business, "Home Town Antiques".
Mr. Plyler is preceded in death by his wife, June Wilkinson Plyler in 2015 and one brother, Warren C. Plyler, Sr. of Waxhaw who passed away in 2013.
Survivors include his only child, daughter Pat Plyler-Wiltsee and son-in-law Bill Wiltsee of Monroe; two brothers, Otho Frank Plyler, Jr. and wife, Cornelia, of Garner, and Perry P. Plyler and wife, Lois, of Chesapeake, Virginia; and sister-in-law O'Neil Plyler of Waxhaw.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at his daughter's home at 214 Hillside Drive in Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Harris Hospice at Novant Health Center; 324 North McDowell Street; Charlotte, North Carolina 28204.
