Teresa Yvette Strickland Smith, of Albemarle, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, surrounded by the love of her family.
A graveside service to celebrate Teresa's life will be held at Palestine Cemetery on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11am, with Rev. Boyd Joyce officiating.
Born on March 25, 1966, in Stanly County, Teresa was the beloved daughter of the late William Harold Strickland and Frances Yvonne Dyson Strickland. She dedicated many years of service as the office manager at the Albemarle Women's Clinic, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and caring spirit. Teresa was also a faithful member of Palestine Community Church.
Teresa had a heart that overflowed with compassion, not only for her family and friends but for animals as well. She especially loved dogs and found great joy volunteering with Paws of Piedmont, where she devoted countless hours caring for and advocating for her beloved furry friends. Her own beloved companions—dogs Maxwell, Harley, Katie Ann, Luna, Molly, and her cherished cat, Sally Mae—held a special place in her heart and brought her endless comfort, companionship, and joy. Her gentle nature, generous heart, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
More than anything, Teresa cherished the time she spent with her family. She looked forward to family gatherings, where her warm smile, delicious home-cooked meals, and welcoming spirit made every occasion special. She also had a love for shopping and delighted in finding the perfect gift or treating herself to a fun day of browsing with those she loved. Whether she was cooking for family, lending a helping hand, caring for animals, or enjoying an afternoon of shopping, Teresa found joy in life's simple blessings and in making others happy. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful sister, and loyal friend whose life was defined by compassion, generosity, and unwavering love.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Donald Glenn Smith of the home; her daughter, Holly Smith Hambrick and husband, Casey, of Albemarle; her sister, Lisa Strickland Hathcock and husband, Tony, of Oakboro; and her cherished grand dogs, Birkley, Kya, and Koby, who held a very special place in her heart.
The family is being served by Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle.
