Steve Marshall Bailey's Obituary
Steve Marshall Bailey, 76, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at West Albemarle Baptist Church, with Pastor Adam Hatley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Born on July 26, 1949, in Stanly County, Steve was the son of the late Glenn and Vernie Bailey. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life was marked by hard work, faith, and a deep love for his family.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Susan Bailey. He leaves behind his children, Mark Bailey (Alicia) of Albemarle and April Wallace (Matt) of New London, and his cherished grandchildren, Landon Bailey, Maci Bailey, Kathryn Underwood, and Drew Underwood. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Bailey (Carla), and his sisters, Hilda Carpenter, Paulette Whitley, Linda Harkey (Larry), Deborah Pickler (Paul), and Wanda Furr (David).
Steve was a proud and loving dad, grandpa, and brother. He enjoyed fishing and was a lifelong NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt. A faithful member of West Albemarle Baptist Church, Steve owned and operated a construction company, remodeling many homes throughout Stanly County and he later retired from the city of Albemarle.
