Stephen "Steve" Lee Alligood's Obituary
Stephen "Steve" Lee Alligood, 58, of Oakboro, passed away on April 17, 2025.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Keith Walters officiating.
Born on September 5, 1966, in Stanly County, NC, Steve was the son of the late Clyde and Marjorie "Margie" Pritchard Alligood. He served his community for many years as a detective with the Albemarle Police Department and was most recently employed at Food Lion in Oakboro. He was a Christian and his faith was an important part of his life. He made sure to instill this faith in his daughter as she grew up through daily activities such as nighttime prayers and always asking the blessing before meals.
Steve was known for his love of cooking, his quick wit, and his hardworking spirit. He found joy in the simple things-sunny beach trips, the satisfaction of a well-detailed car, and the companionship of his beloved cats. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to make others laugh. One of his favorite Christmas activities was attending the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
His daughter never had to question how proud he was of her-she was his pride and joy. He was thrilled to welcome his first grandchild and looked forward to becoming a grandfather with great excitement.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Alligood Russell, and her husband Justin of Denver, NC; his cherished granddaughter, Valerie Russell; his brother, Mike Alligood, and wife Libby of Lawrenceville, GA; and two nieces Olivia and Emily and a nephew Charlie.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
