Stacy Eugene Sherrill's Obituary
Stacy Eugene Sherrill, 59, of New London, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026.
Born on May 31, 1967, in Statesville, North Carolina, Stacy was the son of Jeannie Sherrill and the late James “Jim” Sherrill. He grew up in Statesville and carried with him throughout his life the values of family, kindness, and hard work.
Stacy was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He shared 30 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Sherri Sherrill. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, family traditions, and countless cherished memories. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Hunter Sherrill; his daughter, Hannah Sherrill; his mother, Jeannie Sherrill; his brothers, Todd Sherrill (Cindy) and Terry Sherrill (Sue); along with many extended family members and lifelong friends.
For 21.5 years, Stacy faithfully served with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was known for his dependable work ethic and his caring heart. Over the years, many four-legged companions found their way into his home and, more importantly, into his heart.
Stacy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gathering with family on Sundays to watch football, especially when his beloved Miami Dolphins were playing. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and had an eye for uncovering hidden treasures.
Above all, Stacy loved being home with his family and pets. He never met a stranger and had a friend in every corner of his life. He had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. He never failed to make those around him smile, laugh, and feel loved. No matter what challenges life brought, Stacy had a way of making things seem brighter simply by being himself. His quick wit, infectious smile, and caring nature brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew him. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering friendship left a lasting impact, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were blessed to know and love him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Boyd Joyce. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Sherrill home, 40221 Mountain Creek Road, New London, North Carolina, to share memories, stories, and celebrate a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
