Sonya was born September 15, 1975, in Mecklenburg County, NC, a daughter of Tommy Roger Griffin and Margaret Thornton Griffin. Sonya was an employee of the United States Postal Service with many years of dedicated service. A woman with a smile that would light up any room, Sonya never met a stranger. Her kindness was shown through many acts of giving to those in need. Always happy and upbeat, she was a positive influence in the lives of those around her. She enjoyed going to the beach, and always took the time to wake up and see the sunrise. In her free time, she enjoyed working in her garden, as she appreciated all the beauty of God's creation. Above all else, Sonya loved Jesus and her family. Living her life in a way that she would always take the time to listen when no one else would, and continually looking for the good in people, Sonya leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten by those who love her.
In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memory is her son, Cody Jacob Laney, her son, Bradley Austin Laney, her daughter, Summer Runá Puckett, her daughter, Charity Ariel Champion, her sister, Tiffany Margaret Renee Griffin, her brother, Tommy Whiteford Griffin, her brother, Roy Nathaniel Griffin, and her brother, Adam Keith Griffin.
Sonya was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alma Beatey.
