Shirley Smith Davis' Obituary
Shirley Louise Smith Davis, 73, of Albemarle, NC went to her heavenly home Sunday, February 19, 2023, in Bethany Woods Nursing Center. Her funeral service will be 2pm Thursday, February 23, 2023 in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Brain Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12pm until 1:30pm at the funeral home.
Shirley (Dimple) was born July 14, 1949 in North Carolina to the late Vaughn Manson Smith and Faye Novella Petrea Smith. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth “Vicki” Grissom and Dale Beachum.
Survivors include husband, Michael H. Davis of Albemarle, NC; children, Jan Almond (Kim) of Charlotte, NC, Trent Taylor (Vicky) of Aquadale, NC, Chad Taylor (Jordan) of Richfield, NC and Brandon Davis (Hailey) of Albemarle, NC; step-children, Sheri Chandler (David) of Chapel Hill, NC; granddaughters, Emerson Almond and Kristen Davis; grandson, Spencer Almond; step-granddaughter, Shelby Martin (Trey); sisters, Patsy Taylor, Nancy Little, Brenda Hill, Lynda Smith and Marilyn Lankford (John); brother, Tommy Smith (Tracy); sister-in-law, Gwen Shaver (George); brother-in-law, Tommy Davis (Jan) and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was the sixth of 8 girls, then 1 boy, born to her parents. She grew up in Stanly County and attended West Stanly High School. Shirley worked many years with her husband Michael at Hal’s Restaurant, Albemarle, NC. She enjoyed traveling (taking several cruises, driving cross county to California, flying to New York) and spending time with her family.
Shirley was a strong Christian and until the Covid Epidemic was an active member of West Albemarle Baptist Church in Albemarle. Her family and her faith were most important to Shirley.
