Shirley Sprouse Comer's Obituary
Shirley Dean Sprouse Comer, 88, formerly of Seagrove, NC passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in her home in Albemarle, NC. Her funeral service will be Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11 AM at the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel officiated by Rev. Delane Burris. Burial will follow at Grace Baptist Temple Cemetery in Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.
Shirley was born February 3, 1936, in Spartanburg, SC to the late Lee Jesse Sprouse and Cora Lockheart Sprouse. Shirley completed her GED and became a Certified Nursing Assistant with Montgomery Memorial Hospital. Following, she worked with Black and Decker in Asheboro, NC. Shirley was a member of Grace Baptist Temple. She really enjoyed flowers, sewing and her dog Alvin and cats Wooly, Tanzy and Rose. She also made the best biscuits!
Shirley was married to the late Vernon Curtis Comer who preceded her in death in 2012. Shirley is survived by her daughter; Cathy Silance (Tommy) of Albemarle, NC, her son; Vernon Danny Comer (Rhonda) of Seagrove, NC, four grandchildren; Miranda, Matthew, Amber, Katie, and two great-grandchildren; Emerson and Felix.
