Shelley Jo Ann Herrin's Obituary
Shelley Jo Ann Herrin, 90, of Albemarle, passed away on May 27, 2026.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
Born April 23, 1936, in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Samuel Shaver and Dorothy Lee Springer Shaver. Shelley was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord, her family, and the simple joys of life. She was of the Baptist faith and most recently attended Paul's Crossing Church in Richfield.
Shelley attended Richfield School through the 10th grade before completing her education at Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Asheville. While attending school, she worked on the hospital switchboard to help pay for her stay. After returning home, she began working at Stanly Hospital on the switchboard and later worked in the business office before going to work in Dr. Freeman's office.
During her life, Shelley was first married to George Lee, and together they had two children, Sandy Lee and Chris Lee. Mr. Lee passed away at the age of 42 following heart attacks. She later married Conrad Herrin. The couple lived in Albemarle before moving to South Carolina, where they made their home for twenty years before retiring and returning to Albemarle.
Shelley endured much loss in her life, having been preceded in death by both her son and daughter after returning to Albemarle. Even through hardship, she remained a woman of strong faith and quiet strength. She found great joy in gardening and working with her flowers, and her family will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, and faithful Christian woman.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Conrad Herrin; siblings Mary Alice Shaver of Richfield, Sam Shaver of Richfield, Paul Shaver of New London, and Vicky Harrison of Richfield; three step-children, Jimmy Herrin, Randy Herrin, and Kim Brown; two grandchildren, Chris McNeil and Kristen Norris; step-grandchildren Zachary Brown, Natalie Keith, Katlin Helms, Whitney Hesley, Ashley Gagnon, MacKenzie Brown, and Marshall Herrin; great-grandchildren Christopher Silva, Cattleya Silva, Chevy Callahan, Journey Norris, Caleb McNeil, and Hannah McNeil; 10 step-great-grandchildren; along with extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory. A brother, Danny Shaver, preceded her in death.
The family requests that memorials be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, https://www.tillerycompassionatecare.org.
