Sheila Harris Hatley's Obituary
Sheila Harris Hatley, 71, of Albemarle passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Atrium Health Stanly. Her funeral will be graveside at 2 PM on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 in the Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Monty Clark officiating. No formal visitation is planned.
Born July 12, 1949 in Stanly County, NC she was the daughter of the late Royal and Mecie Blalock Harris. She was a retired teacher with the Stanly County and Montgomery County Schools. Sheila was an active member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church where she has served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Children?s Sermon Leader, Finance Committee Chairman, United Methodist Women Leader and member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She loved to read, crochet, and travel and was an active volunteer at the Cheer Shop at the local hospital. She also loved to spend time with her grandson Carter, especially shopping with him and trips to the beach.
Sheila is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald M. Hatley, daughter Jenny McConnell and husband Bryan of Mt. Pleasant, and grandson Carter McConnell. A brother preceded her in death, Lanny Harris.
