Sheila Shankle Barbee's Obituary
Sheila Shankle Barbee (73) of Oakboro, NC passed away March 26th, 2019 at Spring Arbor in Albemarle, NC. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, March 28th from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29th at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Adam Hatley officiating. A private burial will be at a later date.
Sheila was the daughter of the late
Daniel Augustus Shankle and Mildred Brooks Shankle. She was a graduate of
Albemarle Senior High School. She worked at Home Savings Bank for 44 years
where she served as Corporate Secretary and Executive Senior Vice President.
After retirement, Sheila enjoyed spending time with her Sunday school class,
visiting residents at Bethany Woods, and working outside in her yard. She loved
spending time with her only granddaughter and you could most always find her
next to her husband, helping him work on a tractor project.
Sheila is survived by her husband of
53 years, Hilton Barbee, of the home, their daughter, Kristie Barbee Huber of
Locust, granddaughter Danielle Augusta Huber (Danni), and a sister, Lou Shankle
Page. She was preceded in death by her sister Linda Shankle Thompson.
