Sarah Coward Harris' Obituary
Sarah Ruth Coward Harris, age 90 of Albemarle, N.C. passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at her home.
Her service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Palestine United Methodist Church, Albemarle with the Rev. Kevin McCormac and Rev. Boyd Joyce officiating. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will be in the Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Mrs. Harris was born September 2, 1924 in Stanly County, N.C. to the late James Norman Coward and Della Inez Miles Coward and was a graduate of Badin High School. She attended Catawba College in Salisbury and was a homemaker. She was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Senior Pals, former Sunday School Teacher and was active in other activities as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Harris was married to the late Willard Martin Harris for 50 years. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Harris and wife Susan of New London, N.C., one daughter, Debbie H. Talbert and husband Charles of Norwood, N.C., five grandchildren, Anne Marie Harris, Waren Harris, Owen Harris all of New London, Melissa Talbert of Norwood, and Steven Talbert and wife Tyler of Albemarle, one sister, Marion C. Cooper of St. Simons Island, GA.
