Sarah C. Burleson's Obituary
Sarah C. Burleson, 88, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC. There will be a celebration of life memorial service at the First Baptist Church of Albemarle on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11am with Dr. Kendall Cameron officiating. Her inurnment will follow the service in the First Baptist Church of Albemarle Columbarium.
Sarah was born March 25, 1934 in Stanly County, NC and raised by her late guardians Arthur and Ethel Carpenter Coley. She attended Morgan’s Business College. Sarah retired from Wiscassett Mills Company as an Administrative Assistant in the Customer Service Department. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served in many programs and taught Sunday School. Sarah was proud of her church, her community of friends and their good fellowship. She loved writing cards and offering words of encouragement to friends and family. Sarah enjoyed taking daily walks and she followed all types of sporting events but loved basketball the most. Being an avid reader, her interests included historical novels of the WWII period with strong women characters. She enjoyed volunteer work at the hospital and as a District Representative for the Centralina Area Agency on Aging. Sarah was especially proud of her grandchildren and their individual talents and accomplishments which brought her much joy.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Tonita B. Watts (Billy) of Chesapeake, VA and Teresa B. Creech of Rock Hill, SC; a grandson, Travis B. Head of Blacksburg, VA; two granddaughters, Maggie Creech of Richmond, VA and Betsy Creech of Brooklyn, NY and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Cooper, Bryce Cooper, Clarence Cooper and Colon Cooper and two sisters, Louise Cooper Rushing and Frances Cooper Poplin Carpenter.
