Sara Catherine Stewart's Obituary
Sara
Catherine Stewart ?Mawmaw?, 87, of Concord passed away on December 18, 2019.
Born March 9, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Luther Wilson Pender and
Rosetta Pender and raised in Cornelius, NC. In addition to her parents, she is
preceded in death by her husband Mark Allen Stewart, Sr; brother, Luke Pender;
and sisters, Jean Burris and Betty Kye.
She attended
Harding High School in Charlotte. In 1951, Sara married Mark Allen Stewart Sr.
and they relocated to Newell where she became an active member of Northside
Baptist Church. Later in life she attended New Life Church of Jesus Christ in
Concord. Sara enjoyed walking, gardening, crafts, and all things beauty. Most
of all, she adored spending time with her family and animals by the pool.
Sara is
survived by her son, Mark Allen Stewart, Jr of Midland and his wife Joan,
granddaughters, Tiffany, Ashley, and Hailey; step-grandson C.J.; and great
grandsons Nathan and Miles. She is also survived by her brother, Murray Pender.
The family
would like to send a special thanks to Enlivant of Concord, Hospice of Cabarrus
County, and special friends, Karen and Anita.
A graveside
service will be held Friday, December 20 at 2 PM at Charlotte Memorial Gardens
with Rev. Gary Morris officiating.
