Ruth Carter's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Baker Carter, age 86, of Indian Trail, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, officiated by Reverend Andy Wells, Reverend George Gouge, and Reverend Dade Sherman. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Carter was born on April 21, 1927, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late William David Baker and Zettie Deese Baker. She was retired from Guardian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Reese Carter; her son, Kenneth Lane Carter; her brother, Sam Baker; three sisters, Minnie Melton, Louise Rape, and Verla Cauthen.
Survivors include two sons, Billie Reese Carter and wife, Mary, of Monroe, Harold Dean Carter and wife, Deane, of Monroe; one daughter, Debra Carter Byars of Indian Trail; four brothers, Robert Baker and wife, Bobbie, of Pageland, Archie Baker of Pageland, B.F. Baker and wife, Ida, of Pageland, and Joe Baker of Monroe. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night (October 8, 2013) from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home; 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
The family will meet at the home of her son, Billy Carter at 4411 Parkwood School Road in Monroe.
