Roy "Junior" Marvin Bowers' Obituary
Roy Marvin “Junior” Bowers Jr., 83, of Albemarle passed away on January 22,
2022. His funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at
Poplins Grove Baptist Church followed by burial at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will be held from 12 PM until 1 PM, prior to the service, in the church
sanctuary.
Born August 2, 1938 in Stanly County to the late Roy Marvin Bowers and Eunice
Morgan Bowers. A graduate of Endy School, class of 1956. He started work at 18
years old as an operator at Collins & Aikman and ended his career as a manager in
Research and Development. He retired with over 44 years of service.
Mr. Bowers was happiest when he was working outdoors or spending time with
his family. He also enjoyed his mornings spending time with his friends at the
Stanly County YMCA and walking the trails of Rock Creek Park.
Mr. Bowers is survived by sons: Steve Bowers (Crystal) of Albemarle; Todd Bowers
(Tracy) of Albemarle; Randy Bowers (Krista) of Albemarle; grandchildren: Teryn
Morgan (Miller), TJ Bowers (Allison Talley), Jessup Bowers, Colby Bowers; and
great-grandchildren: Miles and Parker Morgan and sister Katherine Bowers
Lambert and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife
Linda ”Kay” Bowers and granddaughter Christy Kay Bowers and a brother James
Harold Bowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Stanly and
the Uwharrie at 960, N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
