Roy Eugene Furr's Obituary
Roy Eugene Furr, 81, of Albemarle, passed away at his home
on Sunday, March 3, 2019. A memorial service for Mr. Furr will be held at 3PM
on Friday, March 8, 2019 in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care chapel in
Albemarle.
Born September 15, 1937 in Stanly County, Mr. Furr was the
son of the late Lois Virginia Farmer and Lee Roy Furr. While serving as a
member of the United States Air Force during the 1950?s and 1960?s, Roy was
stationed in CA, WA, FL, NY, and NC. He also was in Vietnam in 1964. Mr. Furr
was known as ?Mean Gene? in Albemarle for his flag car driving and even had the
title placed on his truck.
Roy is survived by his daughter Debra Barrie (Duane) and Mechele LaBrie (Sean); sons Jeff Furr (Antoinette) and Scott Furr; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brother Mickey Furr (Vicki); sisters Karen Taylor and Cathy Gary (Brian); and longtime friend Dean Turner. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Mark and his brother in law, Arnold Taylor.
