Rose Marie Hypes' Obituary
Rose Marie Jenkins Hypes went to be with our Lord on April 12, 2024. Rose is preceded in death by her parents Spencer Lee Jenkins and Doris Potter Jenkins and sister Shirley Jenkins Watson and babies: Jeffrey Scott, Philip Clarence, and Brandon Spencer Hypes.

Rose was born September 22, 1950, in Elizabethton, TN. Rose graduated Unaka High School, Elizabethton, TN and attended Kings College in Charlotte, NC. Rose was employed by Engineered Custom Plastics in Liberty, SC; Country Day School in Charlotte, NC; Dr. Springs of Monroe, NC; Dr. Jones and Dr. Hughes of Knoxville, TN, and Dr. Thai of Indian Trail, NC.
Rose was a member of Living Waters Ministries in Locust, NC. She was also a member of the Locust Lions Club in the past and Nutrition Center (Meals on Wheels) in Locust. Rose was involved with devotions and women’s prayer on Tuesday mornings at Living Waters Ministries and with a women’s Bible study facilitated by Robbie Lemmons at Central Church of God on Wednesday’s.
The home in the Meadows, Rose loved more than any home she ever lived in and loved Locust more than any town or city she ever lived in. Rose and husband Roger travelled often. Some of her fondest memories include hiking up Mt. Vesuvius and overlooking Pompeii, seeing the Eifel Tower, Roman Coliseum, beaches of Normandy, and being baptized in the river Jordan. Rose loved her Lord first and foremost, her family second, and her friends and neighbors third. She loved animals, especially her 3 cats, Zoe, Pepper and Luna. Rose will be remembered by all who knew her as a sweet spirit, just as God gave her, never speaking ill of anyone.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday April 15, 2024, at Stanly Funeral Home in Locust with a memorial service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Howard Henegar and Reverend Bill Phipps will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, Stanly County Animal Shelter, the building fund of Living Waters Ministries, or a favorite charity of your choosing.
Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Locust is serving the Hypes family.
