Ronald Rozell Smith, 68, of Richfield passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Carolinas HealthCare System ?Northeast.? His funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Madaris and Pastor Stoney Benfield officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care from 6 until 8 PM.
Born April 6, 1948 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Milas N. Smith Sr. and Ruth Burroughs Smith Kendall.? He was a retired employee of Norandal in Salisbury.? Mr. Smith was a member of Highland Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.? He was also a member of the VFW.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Delores Corne Smith, sons Kevin Lee Russell and wife Angela of Albemarle and Shawn Allen Smith and wife Amber of Charlotte, daughter Sandra Smith Tucker and husband Brandon of Richfield, brother Milas N. ?Mickey? Smith of Richfield.? Ronnie was a devoted Pawpaw to his five adoring grandchildren Devin Lee Russell, Kalysta Lorraine Russell, Carli Elizabeth-Faye Tucker, Bailey Sue Tucker and Myla Ruth Smith.? A sister, Sandra Smith Rodenbaugh preceded him in death.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to any veterans organization of the donor?s choice.
