My brother Roger was 17 years old when I was born into the family. My Mom and Dad would tell us stories of my three older siblings. My Mom and Dad were so proud of Roger and every story they told about Roger was a good one. When I got older, Roger became a Role Model for me. In school, I wrote essays about my brother Roger serving in the Army in Korea. My school friends were all jealous when I wore a special army vest that Roger had arranged to be made in Korea for his three younger siblings. I have many pictures of me wearing that vest. When I was growing up, I wanted to have the perfect family like Roger had. Our Mom and Dad would load up the three young siblings in the car and head to Story City every holiday for a delicious meal. After Roger and his family moved, I cherish the times we all got together again. The Karp Reunions, Phil and Pam's wedding, his trips back to Fort Dodge, and other special occasions. Roger and Kathy drove 1,077 miles (one way) to attend my wedding. I will always remember seeing Roger and Kathy at Tanner's wedding last Summer. At Tanner's wedding, Roger was so proud when telling us about his two sons and his grandchildren. I will miss his stories, his beautiful smile, and his contagious laugh. God will say that Roger was a good son, a good husband, a good father, a good grandfather, and the best brother a person could have. God bless you Roger. We will miss you.
