Rodney Joe Morton's Obituary
Rodney “Joe” Morton, 59, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. His funeral service will be 2pm Monday, March 6, 2023 in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Steve Combs officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the funeral home.
Mr. Morton was born April 28, 1963 in Stanly County, NC to the late Shirley Sue Overcash Morton and Robert Vance Morton. Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, riding four wheelers, hunting, fishing and spur of the moment Walmart trips with his two friends, Buddy Coley and Rick Jordon.
Joe is survived by his two daughters, Leigh Locklear (Chris) of Locust, NC and Jody Lowder (Scott) of Millingport; a brother, John Morton of Albemarle, NC; three sisters, Darlene M. Smalling of Norwood, NC, Purlie M. Page (Floyd) of GA and Susan Eury of Albemarle, NC and seven grandchildren, Ethan Locklear, Gavin Locklear, Addison Lowder, Jacob Lowder, Kayden Lowder, Ainsley Lowder and Kynlee Lowder. Mr. Morton was also preceded in death by two brothers, Scott Morton and Bruce Eury and a sister, Gaynail Eury Hammonds and a man who was as close to him as a Dad could be, Marshall Ray Andrews.
